Multi Channel Optical Fiber Strain Sensing System


The N8511 enables extensive high-accuracy monitoring for the early detection of cracks in concrete structures, mudslides and landslides on slopes along roads, and riverbank collapse by measuring Brillouin scattered light with an optical fiber sensor to measure strain.

Since June 2006, this system has been used for early detection of potential landslides on slopes along Route 220 in Japan's Miyazaki Prefecture.

This system was used for research on abnormalities in London subway tunnels under the supervision of Dr. Kenichi Soga, a professor at the University of Cambridge, for one year from August 2007 to July 2008. The system provided useful data.
