TOKYO, Japan, September 18, 2009 - Advantest Corporation (TSE: 6857, NYSE: ATE) today announced that the Saitama Employment Development Association has recognized Advantest Green Corporation (AGC), a fully-owned subsidiary of the Advantest Group, as an "Excellent Workplace for Persons With Disabilities," and awarded it the association's Chairman's Prize. Two AGC employees - Masayoshi Takahashi, who performs environmental duties at Advantest's Gunma Factory, and Fumio Iizuka, who works in the mailroom at the company's Gunma Factory 2 - also received Chairman's Prizes from the association.

The honors come in September, designated "Employment Support for Persons with Disabilities Month" by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and the country's prefectural Associations of Employment Development. With the goal of promoting stable work opportunities for the disabled, the associations annually recognize businesses that actively employ persons with disabilities, and individuals who have overcome their disabilities to participate in society or live exemplary lives in some other way.

Advantest was recognized on this occasion as meeting the criteria of an "Excellent Workplace for Persons With Disabilities," supporting stable employment for the disabled, and actively contributing to local communities in Saitama Prefecture.
In particular, Advantest was commended for its unique training scheme, which takes into account the strengths and weaknesses of each employee to better develop their skills and help them enjoy stable working lives. Additionally, the company was rated highly for its contributions to local communities, which include continued support for special education programs at local schools, workplace training in janitorial and landscaping duties, and an outreach schedule of company tours and lectures that target local companies and institutions.
The two employees singled out for prizes were cited as role models for other persons with disabilities.

Their sincere dedication to carrying out their duties and improving product quality has earned them the warm trust of their fellow employees.
Advantest will continue to promote employment of the disabled and actively support their participation in society.
