Advantest Earns VLSI Research's Five-Star Rating
for 4th Straight Year

TOKYO, Japan, December 18th, 2008 - Advantest Corporation (TSE: 6857, NYSE: ATE) has earned the highest rating of five stars based on VLSI Research Inc.'s 2008 Customer Satisfaction Survey on Chip Making Equipment. Among 80 companies included in this year's survey, Advantest was one of eleven to earn the five-star rating, and one of just three to receive it for the fourth consecutive year.
VLSI Research is the world's leader in providing independent customer evaluations of semiconductor equipment suppliers, and its Customer Satisfaction Survey targets users worldwide, with a response rate of 95%. The six measured categories include quality of results, product performance and customer service. As well as the overall Five-Star Rating Award, Advantest earned five stars this year in the areas of quality of results, product performance, technical leadership, and commitment.
