Advantest Establishes New Electronic Component Manufacturing Company in Sendai

TOKYO, Japan, April 25th, 2007 - Advantest Corporation (TSE: 6857, NYSE: ATE), today announced that it will transfer and consolidate its operations relating to the design, development and production of semiconductor test system key devices and electronic components. Work concerning MEMS switches and the like is currently carried out at its Gyoda Office and Otone R&D Center, and as Advantest shifts this work to within the premises of Advantest Laboratories, it will establish a new subsidiary, Advantest Component, Inc. The new company will operate according to the just-in-time production system, from design and development right through to production, and will be structured so that it can respond flexibly to future business expansion or high-volume production. Advantest will also build new clean room facilities on the site, with aims to complete the construction by the end of 2007. By 2009, it plans to invest around 8 billion yen in the development and production of MEMS switches and other electronic components and to employ about 100 employees.
