Advantest Joins Voluntary Export Clearance System

TOKYO, Japan, September 13th, 2006 - Advantest Corporation (TSE: 6857, NYSE: ATE), announced today that it has been certified by the Japan Customs & Tariff Bureau to perform export clearance procedures, and will henceforth export its products under the Designated Exporter Declaration System established in March 2005.
The Designated Exporter Declaration System facilitates voluntary export control by allowing certified companies to carry out export clearance procedures at their own facilities. Previously, exporters were required to bring their goods to the Bureau's holding area or a specially permitted place in order for checks to be carried out. Several companies have been certified to export goods by sea under the new system, but Advantest is the first company to receive certification for exports by air.
Known for its high-value-added total test solutions, Advantest has proved yet again, by winning Designated Exporter certification, that it leads the ATE industry on customer service and efficiency.
