Advantest Establishes New Subsidiary,
Advantest Technology Solutions

TOKYO, Japan-July 4, 2005-Advantest Corporation (TSE: 6857, NYSE: ATE), the global leader in semiconductor test systems, today announced that it has established a new subsidiary, Advantest Technology Solutions (ATES). Offering semiconductor design verification systems that utilize event-based test technology ?an Advantest innovation that greatly simplifies the process of design verification ?the new company is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Advantest Corporation.
Driven by the consumer electronics and broadband markets, SoCs evolve continually to combine more and more functions on a single chip. The sheer complexity of their designs means that the design verification process is a heavy burden for their manufacturers.
With the goal of lightening this burden, Advantest has established a new subsidiary that will develop and sell testers utilizing event-based test technology, which helps to bridge the design-to-test gap by utilizing data from the design environment “as is” at the validation stage of the process. Hitherto, this technology has been developed under the name of CertiMAX by the Advantest America R&D Center (ARD), a wholly–owned North American subsidiary of the company. Now, the establishment of ATES to develop and promote testers employing the event-based approach is expected to accelerate its spread. The company forecasts sales for the new subsidiary of 10 billion yen by fiscal 2007.
