The International Coastal Cleanup was held on September 17th in Singapore. Advantest (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. (ASP) has participated in this project five years in a row. The members from Verigy Ltd., which had been acquired by Advantest recently, also participated in this project.
The total of 65 volunteers, including the employees and their families, cleaned up 400 meters of the coastline and collected cigarette butts, styrofoam, etc., in 7 garbage bags, which weighed the total of 35.5kg. After the collected trash was sorted out, recorded and analyzed, the trash was going to be reused to develop an effective strategy for trash reduction and to protect our water environment. This project has also become a great opportunity to educate children with the importance of environmental protection.
We also took part in a charity event, which was held concurrently with the cleanup project. This event was to convert the distance covered by cycling, jogging and walking into a monetary amount and donate that amount to the Children Cancer Foundation (CCF), an NPO that aids children with cancer for their life improvement and provides support to the families of those children. The participants from ASP and Verigy ran and covered the total distance of 302km within the time limit of one hour and donated 1,560 dollars.
ASP and Verigy will continue to take their active parts in environmental protection activities and social contribution activities in the future. |
