The 4th Forest Conservation Activities in the Kusatsu Yasuragi-no-Mori Forest
November 19, 2010
The Advantest Group conducted forest conservation activities for the fourth time in the Kusatsu Yasuragi-no-Mori forest (Agatsuma County, Gunma Prefecture) on October 1st and 2nd.

As a company with three business locations in Gunma prefecture, Advantest considers its participation in the activities to protect natural environment as one of its corporate social responsibilities (CSRs). The forest conservation activities this time were conducted as part of the Basic Plan for the Management and Operation of National Forests set out by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in Japan. By thinning the crowded forest, the trees will be able to soak up more sun, which can help developing a healthy forest.

Twenty-eight employees from Advantest volunteered to join the activities this time. Following the instructions given by the staff of the Forestry Agency, they worked hard to thin the trees in the forest. Despite the tremendous labor and energy the task of sawing down individual trees required, the participating employees said, "We came to understand the importance of nature through this hands-on experience." "I want to participate in this work again and contribute to the environmental protection."

Also from a biodiversity point of view, the Advantest Group will continue to participate in the forest conservation activities in the Kusatsu Yasuragi-no-Mori forest in the future.
