In November Advanfacilities Co., Ltd. (AFC) started collecting the caps of plastic bottles and donating them to a community group, as part of a project that provides polio vaccines to the world's underprivileged children.
The bottle tops collected at our facilities are turned into cash through an organization called Group MATE. This money is then used by an NPO, the Japan Committee for Vaccines for the World's Children, to buy polio vaccines.
We asked other Advantest Group employees at Gunma and Otone R&D centers to take part in the project too, and as a result, we collected 26kg of bottle caps over a period of a month. This is enough to purchase vaccines for 13 children.
We plan to ask staff at other facilities to participate so that we can save the lives of more young children.
