Kitakyushu R&D Center Receives Award for Energy-Saving Endeavors

Advantest and Advantest Kyushu Systems, who both operate at our Kitakyushu R&D Center (Yahatahigashi-ku, Kitakyushu-shi), were eager participants in a contest organized by the City of Kitakyushu's environmental agency to encourage the reduction of CO2 emissions.
18 companies in the Yahatahigashida area entered the contest. They were assessed on how successful they were in reducing CO2 emissions in 2006, with factors for consideration including the amount by which they reduced emissions, the rate at which they did so and the activities they actually carried out to achieve this. Companies performing particularly well were presented with awards from the City of Kitakyushu at a meeting held by Yahatahigashida's regional development liaison group.
Kitakyushu R&D Center received an award for its energy-saving endeavors. We were given credit for our day-to-day efforts to save energy and therefore reduce CO2 emissions. Our wide-ranging activities include setting office air conditioning at 28°C in the summer, using window tint and achieving zero waste emissions.
We believe that the steady introduction of such emission-reducing measures will lead to great results in the reduction of CO2 gases. We plan to continue making efforts in this area.
