Abolishing Plastic Carrier Bags at Company Shop

The Container and Packaging Recycling Law, revised in June 2006, calls for packaging waste control. It encourages abolishing the distribution of plastic carrier bags at cash desks, in favor of shoppers bringing their own reusable shopping bags.
At the Gunma R&D Center (Meiwa-machi, Ora-gun, Gunma) shop for employees, Advanfacilities Co., Ltd. has completely terminated the use of plastic carrier bags at the cash register as of April 2007. Instead, it is asking employees to use reusable shopping bags to take away their purchases and when necessary, distributes the bags free of charge.
At the moment the system is in operation at just this one location, but introduction at all company locations is being considered.
We are conscious that small individual efforts produce big results in the conservation of the environment and we will continue to promote such environmentally friendly activities amongst employees.
