Advantest’s Green Products
Advantest’s approach to its product development is based on environmental conservation. It has been promoting the initiatives to provide green products that satisfy the three key aspects of Energy Saving, Improved Recyclability and Elimination of Hazardous Substances.

Concept of Green Products
Content of products and value-added services has been changing in recent years, and our customers and society now strongly demand environmentally conscious products, which are energy saving, recyclable and contain no hazardous substances. In order for us to contribute to sustainable development of society, we need to carry out business activities that are friendly to global environment. Advantest believes that we can respond to such social demand, as well as increase our customers’ satisfaction, by taking an environmental approach in our product development. That leads to our initiatives in developing environmentally conscious products (green products). We continuously assess the benefits of reduced environmental burdens and increased economic values to our customers, manufactures and global environment, and we always aim to make optimized products. We believe that those are Advantest’s missions.

Green Products
In order to provide green products, we conduct a product environmental assessment. A product environmental assessment is to quantitatively assess the environmental impact of a newly developed and designed product on each stage of production, distribution, usage and disposal. Green products are environmentally friendly products. There are also voluntary standards for green products, and the green products that meet the requirements of the standards receive eco labels.

Advantest’s Eco Labels
Uniquely designed Advantest’s eco labels are the Environmental Label II, based on ISO 14021. Each of the three green colors symbolizes “saving energy consumed by products,” “increased recyclability” and “elimination of hazardous substances (green procurement).”

Saving Energy Consumed by Products
In order to promote energy-saving and resource-saving products, our product designs focus on the space-saving, low-power consuming design concept. In the areas such as low-power consumption per test channel, increased throughput and resource-saving designs, for example, our goals are to reduce the floor space by downsizing the product and save energy consumption by the attached equipment.
Increased Recyclability
We are able to provide information on the parts that require special attention upon product disposal, and we use recyclable material for the resin parts designed by our company. Our products can be disassembled easily with common tools. We use recycle-marked batteries in the battery packs.
Elimination of Hazardous Substances (Green Procurement)
In order to avoid any hazardous substances in parts and materials used in our products, Advantest has defined a group of 15 banned substances based on the group of 15 substances defined as Level A in the JIG (Joint Industry Guide). We use the green-procured parts and materials, which do not contain any hazardous substances, in our products.

Introducing our Green Product
T5503 Memory Test System
T5503 doubles the number of simultaneous, parallel tests and reduces the environmental burdens by 40%, comparing to the company’s previous models. It makes use of the latest CMOS technology to achieve lower material weight and energy consumption, reducing the footprint and power consumption by 40% over the company's previous models. We achieved over 95% of the green procurement rate by eliminating thoroughly any hazardous substances contained in the parts and the materials we use. The product disposal information is available on our maintenance manual.
