<Handling the Issues with Conflict Minerals> |
We consider the proper handling of conflict minerals (*) as one of our important social responsibilities, and we will drive initiatives to eliminate the adoption of any parts and components which consist of any raw materials that may contain the conflict minerals mined and extracted by the use of fraudulent funds or by any illegal methods. We kindly request our suppliers to secure transparency in the sources of your parts/components and material. |
(*) Conflict Minerals: When minerals (tantalum, tin, gold, and tungsten) are mined in the Democratic Republic of Congo and its neighboring countries in Africa, and if the mining operations or trades become funding sources for armed groups and foment the conflicts, or if they become the root causes of human rights violations, labor problems, etc., those minerals are called "conflict minerals". The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act ("Dodd-Frank Act"), enacted in the United States in July 2010 , included the rules and placed an obligation for public disclosure of information regarding the usage of the minerals produced in these countries in our products. |
