Since the founding of our company in 1954, Advantest has sought to fulfill our corporate mission to support technology on the leading edge and contribute to society by developing cutting-edge technology.
The technological innovations that support our industry and our individual lifestyles are moving faster and faster, and show no sign of stopping. Every day, new technologies, products, and services - 3D televisions, electric vehicles, cloud computing, the smart grid - are invented and loosed upon the world.
Our mission is to provide society with guarantees of reliability via test and measurement technologies, but these must always stay a step or two ahead of the rest of the world. Development of these cutting-edge technologies requires the willpower to take on the toughest R&D challenges. Also, to stay ahead of the innovation curve, it is sometimes necessary to let go of methods we know and like, and shake up the industry with new and different methods.
We are presently carrying forward our new corporate initiative, 1000Days, with the objective of achieving cumulative profitability over the three-year period from FY2009 to FY2011. Under the slogan The Challenge to Change, we are treating each day as precious, seeking out the buried treasures of expertise and technology in our organization, and building a future-oriented structure with a medium-term perspective. Furthermore, we are tackling the development of new businesses in areas ranging from healthcare and food to energy and the environment, in addition to enhancing the value proposition of our tester business in response to the ongoing shift to high-speed, low-power devices.
We will contribute to society by offering technologies, products, and services that exceed our customers' expectations, in line with our corporate mission to support technology on the leading edge and in keeping with our corporate mantra of Quest for the Essence, striving for originality and ingenuity through friendly rivalries that bring out the best in every employee.
